Entry fee for relay teams is $12 per person, to be collected and submitted once by the team captain. Ultra fee is $35. All substitutions or additions must be logged with the race organizers. All entrants must read the waiver and sign entry forms. No substitutions will be accepted after you pick up your packet on June 29.
Packet Pickup
Team captains and ultras can pick up packets at the Wallace visitors center in Wallace, Idaho, 3-7 p.m. on Friday, June 29th. Team captains must distribute numbers to team members before race. Packets can also be picked up at Excelsior Cycle in Kellogg and Pedal Pushers in Harrison.
The Course
The course is a run from Wallace, Idaho to Plummer, Idaho along the beautiful Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes. The course follows a narrow, paved trail through small towns and scenic forestland, relaxing rivers and meditative meadows. the terrain follows a generally down-hill grade but is seemingly flat. Overall elevation change is 650ft. For More information visit Friends of the CDA Trails.
Team Race Results
Team relay starts at 7:30 & 8:00 (notification of start time will be sent to team captain). The route consists of 10 legs varying from 4.0 miles to 7.7 miles in length between designated runner exchange points. A detailed description map of the course will be included in the race manual mailed to the team captains. Teams will determine among themselves which leg (or legs) a member will run (most legs are in the 6 to 7 mile range) Obviously, one or more individuals on
teams with less than 10 members must run more than one leg. Every team member must run at least one leg and finish the leg he or she started. Substitutions between relay exchange points will disqualify the team.
Awards
All relay team members receive T-shirts. Team relay: ribbons to 3rd place in all divisions. Solo: awards for overall winners both men and women and ribbons to 3rd place.
Team Transportation
For teams, one or two sedans are ideal. To prevent road congestion, vehicles must not drive alongside or in front of a runner at his or her pace. Vehicles should proceed ahead to pull-offs or the next exchange point to drop off and pick up runners. A map of driving directions will be provided in the packet mailed to the team captains, and will be available on race day.
*Due to the geographic diversity of the race, runners starting on the last (10th) leg (Indian Cliffs) Will need to be there before the runner of the previous (9th) leg begins. We will arrange a shuttle from Wallace to that leg. Please make the appropriate arrangements. (For teams with smaller numbers, this may mean one person runs both leg 9 and leg 10)*
Ultra Race Rules
Ultras start at 6:30 a.m. Early start possible, please discuss with race director. Drop boxes will be available for clothes and food items at relay exchange points. Limited refreshments will be available on the course so please ensure that you have adequate food and sports drinks. Pacers allowed after Exchange 5 (Bull Run Trailhead). Pacers do not pay entry fee, but must read waiver and sign entry form (as required by Attorney Generals Office).
Safety
Runners must run on the left hand side of the trail unless to pass. Race officials will assist at intersections and exchange points. For safety and to prevent traffic congestion, no bicycles will be allowed on the course for runner support. Please be courteous of the other trail users, including walkers and any oncoming traffic. All road crossings will be patrolled.
Refreshments & Restrooms
Each team should provide its own water and food during the run. Limited refreshments will be available along the course and at the finish. Take along plenty of clothing; weather is unpredictable in June. Restrooms are located at accessible locations along the route.
The Finish
Teams and supporters are encouraged to gather at the ‘Celebration Grounds’ trailhead in Plummer to greet the runners at the finish line. Refreshments will be available. Relay teams will finish approximately 2:30-7:00 p.m.; the first ultras about 3:00p.m.
